
Old Town Spring is a restored railroad village of the early 1900s with some 150 shops featuring antiques, arts, crafts, clothing, and restaurants. It is open Tues.-Sat. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sun. noon- 5 p.m. I-45 at Spring Cypress Road, Exit 70A, and one mile east.

The area was settled by German immigrants in 1840. The Wunsche family settled in the area and began farming the land. The area had a tremendous growth after the railroad was built through the town in 1871. The town served as a railroad center in the early 1900's. A roundhouse was built and it was a major switchyard. The roundhouse was moved to Houston in 1923 and the Spring population began to decline. In the 1970's the Houston suburbs started expanding to the north. At that time some of the old houses in Spring were restored and became stores. You can visit the Spring Texas Historical Museum to find out a more complete history of the area.
The Old Town Spring Association was formed to promote this unique village. Old Town Spring has become a tourist attraction with all kinds of unique specialty stores. .
You can stroll along and find all kinds of restaurants and shops. You can even stop along the side and buy yourself a snow cone or you can stop to eat at one of the numerous Cafe's. Ellen's Cafe would be a great place to stop although you won't want to miss Wunsche Brothers. You can get a some of the local history about the Wunsche family.
Events take place all year long. The Crawfish festival runs the last two weekends in April. About 50,000 pounds of crawfish are boiled up. There is a wine and art festival in the spring also. Come October you won't want to miss the Pet Fest.
This is the place to "Come Home for the Holidays". Spend the day shopping, listening to strolling musicians and barbershop quartets, taking pictures with Santa
